A workshop on ‘Ethical Hacking’ was organized by the Computer Society Of India – SFIT on 22nd and 23rd of February, 2020. The rise of IT Security and ethical hackers is due to technological advances and the growing number of threats in the computer world. Hence a workshop on the same was conducted to give an insight into the world of hacking. Under the guidance of Mr. Shivam Sinha, the technical head of the committee, following is a report of the 2-day workshop. About the Resource Person Mr. Shivam Sinha is the technical head of the CSI committee and also the technical head of the student council of the college with knowledge in web development, android, ethical hacking and more. Day 1 The session began at around 10 am with a batch of 55 students from our college. The session started with helping the students get the proper softwares installed onto their respective laptops. while the volunteers helped all of the students with the installation an interactive introduction session about the instructor and the topic of the day was done. He started by telling about what hacking actually means and a brief introduction on the basics and need for the concepts that will be taught in the workshop. After completing this foundation part he gave a demonstration overall for the installation of the softwares and began with the main topic. A few basic command line features were taught and some important commands, their syntaxes and the information they provide about the system and the network. After about 4 hours of learning , the students were given a break for 45 minutes.
